High-end equipment for professional and amateur photographers
Our client Camera Centre UK is a family-run business passionate about digital photography and the associated hardware, including cameras, camcorders, drones and other accessories. After using Magento 1 for a number of years, Klova helped them to upgrade their eCommerce system to Magento 2… along with a couple of extra improvements.
Based in South Wales, Camera Centre UK operates two physical stores selling digital photography equipment and printing services in Cardiff and Newport. They also offer delivery across the UK mainland to serve photography enthusiasts across the country. This makes their eCommerce website a key sales channel for the business.
Camera Centre UK branched out into online sales some years ago with an eCommerce store utilising Magento 1. After support for Magento 1 ended, however, the team at Camera Centre turned to Klova to help future-proof their online sales channel by carrying out an upgrade to Magento 2.
They didn’t want to change too much about the look of the site – after all: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! That said, during our initial discussions, we suggested making a few visual tweaks to suit the differences between M1 and M2, as well as to help modernise the shopping experience for customers.
On top of the migration from M1 to M2, Camera Centre UK needed the new website to integrate with various third-party software and services. At Klova, we were able to demonstrate our understanding and experience in connecting external services to a Magento 2 instance to allow for seamless data synchronisation.
The business’ former website included integration with their ERP and EPOS system Intelligent Retail, which was absolutely vital to maintain on the new Magento 2 store as well. With all product information, customer records and recent orders logged internally on their Intelligent Retail instance, Camera Centre needed the new website to mirror this information, and vice versa, at all times.
Using our own custom Magento module for Intelligent Retail integration – created in-house by Klova – we were able to facilitate a smooth transition to the new website, whilst maintaining the full integrity of product and customer data. The new Magento 2 website and Camera Centre’s back-office software synchronise in real-time according to any updates or changes made on either system.
In addition to this integration work, Camera Centre recently began using Deko as a finance partner to allow customers to spread the cost of expensive items. We were also required to work with the Deko platform to incorporate their financing service as a payment method at checkout, along with their finance calculator to help customers choose their ideal payment plan.
